Activity: Bean Bag Hockey

Goal: To build children's strength, visual-spatial skills, and math skills.

Supplies: Bean bags, Music

Time it will take to teach lesson: 10-20 minutes

Instructions:

Children should choose partners or have a partner assigned to them. One child begins by holding in a push-up position (body is held up like a plank). The other partner is on all fours and slides a bean bag across the floor to try to score between her or his partner's arms. Then the children switch roles (the partner that was sliding the bean bag is now in the push-up position and the partner that was in the push-up position is now sliding the bean bag). Both children keep track of the points that they collectively earned.

The activity could be completed while fun music is playing in the background. If your desire is to minimize competition between the partners, you can pose the following challenge: How many goals can you two score as a team during a 2 minute song? Can you score more than 25?
